Government officials are dealing with yet another national crisis, during this incredibly fragile economic time, as it appears Minister Pat Rabbitte’s sense of humour has gone missing.
Government sources are refusing to comment on whether or not it was in fact stolen, but Gardaí have launched an official investigation into the disappearance of Rabbitte’s humorous side.
Alarm bells were raised for the minister when he made comments about a series of jokes made by the musical Director of the Late Late Show, Jim Sheridan. Sheridan (whose sense of humour is in tact) made comments about Senator Ronan Mullen and compared him to the Lord Jesus Christ, through comments and photo-shopped images.
Rabbitte said earlier that the comments were, “Dreadful and offensive” and said that, “I deplore this kind of communication from any source”.
Rabbitte, who may just be frustrated that he still does not know how to use Twitter, was outraged by the comments, causing many people to wonder why he would go mental when someone compares a Senator to Jesus? After all, many government officials enjoy playing God with the lives of the ordinary people.
Either way, his sense of humour has been confirmed as missing and the hunt begins. Officials are however doubtful that it will ever be found again.
It’s Not Funny
Pat Rabbitte doesn’t think any of it is funny though – even with an hilarious comical name like his. Pat Rabbitte – a name with numerous levels to it and full of ambiguities – it could be directional, as in “Pat that rabbit”. Or it could be more a declaration of a name, like “This is Pat The Rabbit” in a “Bugs Bunny” style name. Or it could be more of a “Hey Pat, look a rabbit!”.
Whatever the true meaning of his name, Gardaí are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information about the Minister’s lost sense of humour to contact them on the Garda confidential line on 1800 666 111 immediately.
