Nike, the global sports wear company famous around the entire world, has decided to change it’s slogan from “Just Do It” to the more applicable slogan of ”Yeah Maybe You Shouldn’t Do That‘.
The decision to rebrand the slogan came after the latest incident when one of their athletics, Oscar Pistorius was involved in a serious crime where his girlfriend was shot and killed by the paralympic star. He has since been dropped by the brand.
The previously endorsed athlete claims he thought there was an intruder in his house, hiding in his bathroom and without much thought, decided to just do it and shoot through the closed door. His girlfriend was fatally injured as a result.
Nike have come under pressure over the last number of years, with other high profile athletes not thinking much about life decisions before acting on them.
Tiger Woods got into trouble from doing strippers and multiple women during his marriage and more recently, Lance Armstrong was shamed around the world for doping during his Tour De France cycling wins. Both of these international sports superstars just did a lot of things they shouldn’t have.
After months of research by Nike’s marketing department, it was decided that Nike should stand for a slogan that is still built around action and success, but now has more thought and consideration put into it.
Reports claim that other possible slogans that were up for consideration included:
Nike – Just Do Your Wife
Nike – Just Do It Without Being A Cheating Asshole
Nike – Would Ya Ever Stop Before You Go And Do Something Stupid Ya Big Egit
Nike will be applying the new slogan to all their products over the coming months and are urging people around the world to maybe think long and hard before doing anything really.
