Oscar Pistorius, the South African paralympian, who has been charged with the murder of his girlfriend, has this afternoon been granted bail but on the strict condition that he surrender his prosthetic limbs as part of the conditions to prevent him pulling a legger.
After a 2 hour statement Magistrate Desmond Nair made the decision to grant Pistorius bail and along with surrendering his prosthetics, also ordered him to hand over all of his weapons and informed him not consume alcohol or drugs in the time leading to his trial.
His next appearance in court is scheduled for the 4th of June 2013.
Pistorius has also been dropped from his main sponsor Nike – who are also in the middle of re-branding their famous slogan of “Just Do It” slogan, to “Nike – Yeah Maybe You Shouldn’t Do That” after a string of international scandals involving some of their biggest athletes.
Tiger Woods and Lance Armstrong both just did things they later on regretted (kind of…) and the company is in the process of address the concerns about the slogan that teaches people to be motivated and active, but also teaches people to act without much thought or consideration.
