No one would ever accuse the Austrians of a lack of preparation for tonight’s World Cup qualifier at the Aviva Stadium. However, perhaps one could be forgiven for taking them as being a little over relaxed. Winning tonight’s game would seem to be now secondary IN their priorities.
While Ireland’s long serving captain Robbie Keane heads back to sunny California with a dodgy leg, the Austrian football team arrived in Dublin last night with high hopes of topping off their stay with a trip to Wicklow to get in some off season skiing.
Austrian captain and Vienna striker Philipp Hosiner did reveal that a number of his team mates arrived lacking all the equipment needed for a ski trip, but after a tip off from their recently appointed “manager of motivation” (none other than Arnold Schwarzenegger) the Austrians made a trip to a well-known outlet in St Stephen’s Green Shopping centre to purchase all their skiing needs. “Arnie has always been a big TK-Max fan. Unfortunately we do not possess this shop in Austria. The ‘Motivator’ (Arnie) said to us, “lads you can get anything you like in ze place, it is savage”.”
It may be a cold night on Lansdowne road tonight for the Vienna boys and their choir if that’s their attitude but if this weather trend keeps up, I’m sure “THEY’LL BE BACK”.
