Commander Hadfield is making his return back to earth today and is also an avid musician who brought his guitar with him onto the space station.
Aboard the ISS, Hadfield played a cover of David Bowie’s Space Oddity, recorded it and uploaded it to the Internet. The video has since gone viral, clocking up over a million views in just a couple of days.
But many people are not convinced of the authenticity of the video and claim that the video is a complete hoax, staged by NASA to win the Cold War. When we spoke to one conspiracy theorist, they told us about the tell-tale signs that show that the whole incident was faked:
If you listen closely to the song, under laboratory settings, you can hear that there are numerous instruments playing. NASA publicly admitted that Commander Hadfield only brought with him a guitar – so how do you explain the pianos, electric guitar and drums that can clearly be heard in the song? Also, if you play the song backwards, the words, “Global Warming Is Fake” can clearly be heard.
This theorist went on to comment further saying that:
It’s a complete hoax. If you look at the video, it’s clear that the guy is miming too! And half the time his guitar is floating through the so called “space station” and he’s not even playing it. It’s as if NASA and the ISS want to be found out!
Other evidence that conspiracy theorists have pointed to is that there appears to be more than one camera used in the production of the song. The video shots change regularly during the song, which leads them to believe that there was more than 1 person on board managing the cameras.
Many are claiming that the Space Oddity song was chosen, specifically because it has hidden meanings and symbolism in it. The fact that the word “Oddity” is used theorists claim is another provocative gesture from NASA. And Aliens.
Many are now calling on NASA and the international community to hold an independent investigation into why the ISS Space Oddity song was faked and to reveal the truth to the people of the world.
