A 12 year old boy from Kenmare in County Kerry is the latest child prodigy to have found massive success with an iPhone app he has developed.
Sean Regan’s app has already been downloaded over 200,000 times in it’s first week and is specifically targeted at men between the ages of 25 and 44.
The hugely successful app is designed to make men cry, by reminding them that the 12 year old developer behind it, is far more successful than they have ever been – or are ever likely to be.
The app uses the phones front camera so that the user sees their own face while playing it. The developer’s voice then comes on, loudly and obnoxiously laughing at the users, proclaiming how much better he is doing in life than them and the fact he is only 12.
The harsh taunts and laughs continue until the user breaks down and begins crying. When this happens the phone takes a picture of the man’s crying face and posts it to their Facebook and Twitter profiles, accompanied by the text “I’m crying because a 12 year old is better than me :(“.
The app uses complex facial recognition software to determine when the user begins crying and when to take the picture.
Users can however prevent their picture from being posted online by making In-App purchases of anti-shame tokens. This is the app’s main revenue stream and is already proving to be a lucrative platform for generating cash.
Many apps struggle to recoup their investment, but this one business model appears to be capitalising on the broken dreams of men internationally. More apps are likely to follow suit.
The iAchievedMoreInLifeThanYou is currently only available on the iPhone, but is expected to be launched on different platforms within the next few months.
