Internet service providers in Ireland have commented that the quality of the Internet may be under threat because of the amount of people setting up fashion blogs in the country.
The Irish Domain Registrar have revealed that there are over 100,000 fashion blogs registered in Ireland and that the huge amount of superficial and pointless information contained on them is causing problems with contention rates – something fashion bloggers won’t know anything about.
These sites are clogging up the Internet with pictures of their badly painted nails, horrific outfits from Penny’s and boring videos of themselves doing their hair, along with tons of images and content taken directly from larger fashion and entertainment sites.
Out Of Style
The huge amount of fashion sites in Ireland that are doing exactly the same thing has also meant that the entire fashion blogging industry has rendered itself out of style. No one wants what everyone else already has in large amounts.
But that fact does not appear to be deterring people from setting up more and more fashion blogs. There is an exponential growth of these blogs and current figures suggest that by the end of the year, there will be more Irish fashion blogs then there are people living in the country to read them.
These fashion blogs are jamming the Internet with duplicated information, videos and images. This is proving to be an inefficient use of technology, slowing down the entire Internet for all users in Ireland.
More and more fashion sites are coming online in Ireland, which is like adding more and more cars to an already crowded M50 – it’s going to wind up slowing everyone down and wrecking everyone’s heads.
It’s unclear how the government will move on this contentious issue, as Ireland has positioned itself as an international digital hub and anything that threatens that will have to be addressed.
Many want a cap on the amount of new fashion blogs allowed each year and some are suggesting an outright ban, either way pressure is now being placed on the government to act to the best interests of the nation and prevent this dangerous growth from continuing.
