More shocking revelations have today come out regarding the hugely controversial Anglo Tapes. It appears that in the latest batch released, Lions manager Warren Gatland can clearly be heard discussing his plans to drop Brian O’Driscoll, months before the Lions tour took place.
The recordings are of Gatland and Anglo Director John Bowe. Both are discussing rugby and being rich assholes who don’t really understand the implications of their decisions on the wider Irish public.
At one point on the tape Gatland can be heard saying, “The thing is to first get O’Driscoll committed, ya know, get him into the squad and then cut the f**ker lose like. Once he’s got skin in the game, that’s key!”
Bowe‘s response is, “If he saw the enormity of it up front, he might decide he has a choice. You know what I mean? He might say the cost to him is too high…”, outlining how they planned on misleading O’Driscoll into the squad, knowing that Gatland would eventually drop him.
The entire nation was outraged with the decision to drop O’Driscoll and many are calling for an independent inquiry into the issue. Pro-BOD supporters have organised a protest march tomorrow at 4:30 to pressure the government into action ahead of the clash on Saturday.
Jamie Heaslip has also asked for a hug, as the lack of support and sympathy he is getting is making him sad.
More on the tapes as they break.
