A 27 year old man has today won an imaginary argument with his boss after she condescendingly rejected his proposals for a project they were working on.
Colm Sweeney is currently working for a large PR firm in Dublin and is on a temporary 6 month contract. The account manager he is working under regularly shoots down his ideas, blames her mistakes on him and is grossly incompetent herself. She only secured the job because her father is a director of the company.
However, due to his temporary work contract, lack of self confidence and his fear of confrontation, Colm has never actually stood up for himself. Until today that is, when he finally got the courage to have an argument with her, albeit in his head.
Speaking to The Potato, Colm told us how the argument panned out in his imagination;
“It felt so good to finally let her know how I feel and to finally tell her that she’s horribly wrong and that everyone in the office hates her. It was amazing, I stood up in front of everyone and screamed her down, perfectly pointing out how she’s terrible at her job. She left, embarrassed and defeated and I was elated. Then everyone stood up and cheered me on, I was promoted and the receptionist I’m secretly in love with gave me her number.”
Colm spent the remainder of the day daydreaming, reliving the imaginary moment that never happened – his propensity to daydream in work is one of the reasons why his productivity is down and why he is not liked by his manager, but it still gives him some form of satisfaction to play out these fantasies in his mind.
