A mother of a 10 year old ginger haired boy, has spoken about how she is now terrified for her son’s safety after the Roma children incidents.
The boy has fiery red hair, freckles, pale skin and brown eyes and doesn’t share any of the same appearances as the rest of his family.
The boys mother, Suzanne O’Connell, has blue eyes dark brown hair and no freckles and she says she’s is growing ever more concerned over the safety of her child.
Speaking to The Potato she said:
I mean, I know for a fact that he’s mine, but he looks nothing like me or anyone else in our family for that matter. I’m really scared that someone is going to contact social services and report him for looking different and then have him taken from me.
Ginger haired people in Ireland are another racial minority that have often come under attack based on nothing more than their appearances.
It is feared that the latest Roma children scandal may exacerbate this issue even more.
Suzanne has resorted to sending her child to school with copies of his birth certificate and 2 small viles of blood – one containing her blood, the other her sons to help speed up the DNA profiling in case he is taken.
All parents around the country, whose children may look considerably different to them, are advised to do the same thing, as the chances of having your child taken have significantly increased – especially if you’re in anyway foreign, as the likelihood of a racist neighbor reporting you will be significantly higher.
