A Brazilian Wandering Spider has spoken out about her shock at waking up with her children in London after being kidnapped from their banana home in South America.
The mother of dozens of baby spiders was left traumatized after she was trafficked, along with her children, from their home in Brazil and wound up more than 5,000 miles away.
It is believed that the mother and her young family were subjected to a harrowing ordeal that involved them being hidden in the back of a packed container for more than 5 days, before they wound up in the cold London home.
The Irish Spider Association (ISA) has hit out at the incident and said it highlights the negative treatment that spiders are subjected to, not just in Ireland, but in the UK and around the world.
Speaking on behalf of the ISA, John Webb said
Spiders have been persecuted for years and now it appears that they are victims of an international spider trafficking scam. It’s dangerous and extremely worrying to see that a mother and her young children were kidnapped from their very own home and shipped around the other side of the world.
It is being reported that when the spider found herself in the kitchen of a south London home, her traffickers then fled the building and planning to murder her and her children, by pumping toxic gases into the home.
Thankfully, the mother and her numerous spider babies escaped and are living in a nearby tree, until they can contact the Brazilian Embassy and arrange transport home.
More on this as it breaks.
