Gardaí arrested a number of DCU and Trinity students today and recovered dangerous weapons, including a knife taped to a person’s right shoe and a petrol bomb.
Scenes escalated quickly this afternoon when the filming of an Anchorman parody caused a number of concerned onlookers to call Gardaí.
Several students from both DCU and Trinity were arrested, but many fled the scene when Gardaí appeared. Those apprehended can be held for up to 48 hours under Criminal Justice Act for public order offences.
It’s not clear if they will be released in time for their 24 hour charity broadcast in aid of the Make a Wish foundation.
