LinkedIn have announced today that the professional social networking platform will include people’s star signs, in an effort to reveal more about their character and behavioural traits for prospective employers.
Astrology has long been used by emotional female wrecks as an indicator of personality and as a powerful tool to predict future trends. Now the social media site is planning on incorporating them into their user profiles, to help create a more complete understanding of the people who use the site.
Speaking about the news, Sandra Murphy, a recently divorced manager from a large financial company, Deloitte&Douche said:
“Star signs have been used for thousands of years to give us a better understanding of people, so why not use it in a professional sense? I only learned about them recently but they helped me to understand why my marriage failed. It was because I was an Aries and my ex was a Capricorn and they’re so incredibly incompatible. If I had known from the start, I never would have gone ahead with it and could have saved myself years of pain and not developed a dependency on alcohol.”
Sandra went on to comment that she had to fire a graduate recently too, even though he was performing excellently, she became aware of the fact he was a Leo and that wasn’t the most compatible astrological sign she needed for her team.
Astrological Filters
Employers will now be able to search LinkedIn using astrological filters for prospective employees. They’ll be able to find the most compatible people for their companies and teams by matching and aligning their star signs.
Astrology claims that people born during a certain period of time, all share the exact same characteristics, making it a more efficient and effective way to screen potential employees.
It is thought that this could save companies having to do psychological evaluations, interviews and even probation periods with new staff, as the insights gained from the astrological signs would reveal enough to let the company make decisions based entirely on star signs.
LinkedIn are expected to roll out this new update in the coming weeks and are already considering developing it even more by including Numerology into the profiles as well.
