A 23 year old woman from Clonskeagh, Dublin, left herself paralysed after breaking her own neck while trying to pose for a photo in a nightclub over the weekend.
The serious incident happened as the young woman titled her head over, thinking it would make her look like she was having a better time than if she was just standing up straight.
The sudden jerk of the head tilt, combined with the heavy weight of her hair extensions, cracked several vertebrae and left the woman paralysed.
Doctors examining her Facebook profile, discovered a trend of head titling in her photos and claim that the repeated and extreme head titling in pictures not only looked “fucking ridiculous”, but also played a part in weakening the spinal chord, leading to the injury.
An alarming number of young women on night’s out are reportedly engaging in the new dangerous social media fad of tilting their heads into ridiculous positions, to make it seem like they’re having a great time with their besties in a bathroom.
High heels and slippery tiled floors also increase the risk that these young women will wind up in a wheelchair for the rest of their lives and medical professionals are urging women to stop engaging in the “Head Tilt” craze that is putting their lives at risk.
Head tilting has also been linked to distorted postures and can cause women to wind up walking in circles for hours on end.
