World renowned movie director Steven Spielberg has today confirmed that his latest movie The BFG , was largely inspired by Irish rugby legend Paul O’Connell.

As the first official trailer for the movie is released to the public online, Spielberg made the comments at a press conference and noted that the movie’s main character is based on the life and size of the Munster native.

This is even more outstanding news for O’Connell, who recently picked up the Sportsperson of the Year Award too.

The BFG follows the story of a young girl befriending the friendly giant and journeying with him to a variety of different places, one of those Giant Country – more commonly known as Limerick.

The movie is set for a release date and with filming still continuing, there are also rumours O’Connell himself may have a small cameo role too.

The movie will be relaxed Summer 2016.
